Teaching respect to kids is no less than an uphill task for parents and teachers in this age of social media and technology. The second question that you should ask from your child is, “Do you want someone hate you or you want to be hated”? Her possible answer will be, “No, I don’t”?
The third question which you should ask is, “Will you respect anybody who hates you?” Her response will be in negative like, “I won’t”, she would say.
Now you can teach your child a lesson of golden rule that if she wants to be respected, she should respect and if she wants to be hated, she should hate. She would really choose the first option and start respecting you and others in order to be respected. And, when she shows respect, being parents, you should appreciate, that will bring her close to you. As a result, you and your child will start loving and respecting each other.
How to show respect to a child
As effective parents, you should create an atmosphere of love and respect at home so that your child may adopt the habit of affection and honor by copying you. Parents are role model for the children because whatever they observe in their parents, most of the habits, they adopt whether those ones are good or bad.
So, as a parent, you yourself should adopt positive behavior and show respect and love to your child. Talk with your child politely and involve her in positive and healthy activities. Listen to her attentively and allow her to share her feelings with you.
Be frank with your child so that she may also display frankness and feel no hesitation sharing her feelings with you. If you become successful in creating such atmosphere, you can conquer your child’s heart.
How to teach respect and discipline to your child
Teaching respect to your child is not an easy job. It requires planning and discipline in order to produce respect in your child.
If your child makes any mistake or misbehaves with you, instantly, take her in separate place and tell her that she is good and loveable but her behavior is not good. When you make your child realize this point again and again in such a polite way, she will start understanding your importance for her. As a result, she will bring positive change in her behavior and start respecting you.

As Parents, you should arrange such activities that are beneficial for your kids and give guarantee to teach respect to your kids. Child learns quickly by doing activities practically as practice makes one permanent. Mere advising, you cannot get favorable results. Following activities will bring positive changes in your child.
1: Ask your child to pay warm and sincere compliment to all the family members in every day of the week. Form a weekly plan which will support your child in bringing positive change in her behavior. Advise her that she must write whom she paid greeting to and describe their feedback
2: Ask your child make a list of people she thinks are respectful and why she added them to her list.
3: Say your child to think of someone who is respectful and talk about why they would be a good friend.
4: assign her a research task to find three ways she can show respect to her parents, teachers and elders.
5: Advise your child to make a list of things people who are respectful use in their daily life. Here are a few: “please.” “Thank you.” “I appreciate that.” “May I hold the door?” “Pardon me.” “I’m sorry I offended you.”
6: Urge your child to Interview the members of her family individually and ask what’s one way to show respect to another person and jot down and prepare the list.
